The Shaffer Security Group team is comprised of former FBI Counter Terrorism experts, U.S. Army Special Operations Command Operators, Police/SWAT Officers and former FBI Hostage Rescue Team (HRT) Operators. They have combined their vast and varied experiences to form Shaffer Security Group. Between them the team have conducted thousands of real-world security and intelligence operations across the globe. SSG’s extensive contacts in international law enforcement and the intelligence community, combine with their extensive security, military and police training set Shaffer Security Group apart from other security firms in the industry.
Founding Partner, SSG
Greg served in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for twenty years before founding our team. He has served as the Legal Attaché in Budapest, Hungary where he led the FBI’s international mission to defeat national security and criminal threats. He achieved this by building a network of trusted partners which has strengthened international capabilities.
While serving on the North Texas Joint Terrorism Task Force, Greg supervised, developed and implemented the security plan for the 2011 NFL Super Bowl hosted in Dallas, Texas. He also served as a “Tactical Operator” on the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team (HRT). While serving with the FBI’s HRT Greg conducted operations across the globe. He has also conducted tactical operations in Iraq, Pakistan, Philippines, Indonesia, Greece, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, Tanzania and Yemen. Greg has built a network of connections while serving in these countries.
Education and Training
While serving on the HRT, Greg received enhanced training and resources to address the most complex of threats, working with Department of Defense Special Mission Units and other foreign counter terrorism teams. He has also been assigned to the FBI’s San Francisco Field Office, the Dallas Field Office and the National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC). Greg has participated in the Security planning and implementation for both the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics and the 2004 Athens Summer Olympic Games.
Greg started his professional career as a line-officer in the United States Coast Guard. He served for eleven years and commanded the Cutter POINT STEELE. He also served as the Commandant’s Liaison Officer to the U.S. House of Representatives. Greg is a certified Firearms Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Crisis Negotiator, Tactical Instructor, Executive Protection Instructor, and licensed paramedic. He has trained police officers, SWAT, Counter Terrorism Teams and civilians in tactical firearms in Kuwait, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and across Southeast Asia, Europe and the United States.
Greg has a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from the United States Coast Guard Academy. He also has a Master’s Certificate from the Australian Institute of Police Management and is graduate from the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
Brian served as a police officer in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for fourteen years before becoming an important part of our team. During his law enforcement career Brian was assigned to work in many different areas including, patrol, traffic enforcement, tactical unit, criminal/narcotic interdiction, the bicycle unit, He has also gained communications and administration experiences throughout his years of service. While assigned to those duties Brian received over 25 commendations for exemplary service. The commendations include, Meritorious Service, Meritorious Conduct, Lifesaving and Officer of the Year.
In 2008 Brian went to work as the project’s manager for an elite private security company based out of Texas. Brian’s experience is in the area of providing personal and executive protection for dignitaries, their families, and assets. Besides working with our team, Brian also worked in in the private sector as a security contractor/trainer for non-governmental organizations (NGO) . He has also trained police officers, SWAT officers and Counter Terrorism Teams. Brian Harpole has worked in the US and Middle East.
Education and Training
Brian is an honors graduate from Columbia College. He holds a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies and a minor in Criminal Justice Administration. Brian has an A.A. degree in Police Science. Brian acquired “Master Peace Officer” certification from the State of Texas. He is a graduate of Sam Houston State University’s Command Leadership Series and the Southern Methodist University’s CAPE Intelligence program. He also was successful at the Center for American and International Law Institute for Law Enforcement and the Administration School of Police Supervision.
Brian has completed over 3400 documented hours of advanced training. He is an expert instructor in Defensive Tactics, Taser, O.C. Spray, ASP baton and firearms. Brian has competed in the Police Olympics winning over twenty medals and has successfully completed over 325 endurance events nationally. Brian Harpole is an integral asset for our team.
CHRISTOPHER “DUTCH” MOYER
Dutch retired a Sergeant Major (SGM) from the U.S. Army after 31 years of service. Twenty-six of those were spent with the Special Operations Command. His rich experiences are what makes Dutch an integral part of our team. He has completed 13 combat tours while stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Dutch is the recipient of the Legion of Merit, 5 Bronze Stars and numerous other decorations and awards for valour.
Dutch has successfully planned and conducted small unit tactics in support of Unconventional Warfare, Special Reconnaissance, and Direct Action missions. He has participated in hundreds of successful combat missions in support of the Global War on Terror.
Dutch has extensive police, SWAT, Counter Terrorism Team with Task Force partners training from across the globe . He has worked with Special Operations forces from Great Britain, Canada, Australia, Germany, Denmark. He has also worked with the United States Border Patrol, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Hostage Rescue Team, the Department of State Security, and Homeland Security. In addition, Dutch has also trained forces in Columbia, Thailand, Egypt, Iraq and Kuwait.
Education and Training
Dutch is a recognized weapons expert, tactical trainer and small unit tactics instructor. He is a dignitary protection specialist. In addition Dutch is a K-9 handler/trainer, survival expert and off-road driving instructor.
Dutch is a graduate of the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, Infantryman Basic and Advanced Noncommissioned Officer School and is skilled in many capacities. His military skill set includes: Jungle Operators Course, Military Freefall Parachutist, Pathfinder, and Survival-Evasion-Resistance-Escape (SERE) High Risk (LevelC). Dutch is a certified Jumpmaster and a former Ranger with the Airborne.
The Infantryman is where Dutch worked as an Amor Crewman. Experienced in Jungle Operations Warfare his career has lead him to many global hotspots. He has excelled in Advanced Land Navigation, Sniper training and as a Combat Lifesaver.
Dutch is a qualified Survival Systems Instructor. He has gained many tactical and evasive driving skills and he has also trained at the 4-Wheel Drive School. Dutch has also been to the Skip Barber Racing School and the O’Neil Rally School where he learned precision driving techniques.
